Statistics tell us that women are not the only victims of this type of crime – men can be just as easily duped into a bad relationship. Taylor continues, “Men are just as vulnerable as women when it comes to getting conned; especially if they are wealthy. For example, a sports figure or military personnel who have an ongoing source of income that women can gain access to through marriage.
“It is just common sense to protect yourself from the outset of any new relationship.” Taylor warns, however, that “no one database in the US contains all criminal records, so any online provider of background check data should make complete coverage information available by state.”
